(1 Peter 4:10) The Community Care Ministry at RLC strives to be good stewards of God’s grace and offer gifts to the community in various ways. Imagination Library: Since 2014 we have been the local champions of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Since then 18,584 free books have been mailed to 670 preschool children in the Cairo-Durham School District as well as those associated with our church and preschool. Our role in the program is raising the funds (approximately $25 per child per year) and handling the registrations. Those who wish to serve in this program would help seek out sponsors & grants and check the website monthly for online registrations. Donations are always appreciated! Backpack Program: For several years we have worked with the Cairo-Durham High School Interact Club to provide 75 elementary school children with nutritious snacks on the weekends. The program is again funded through sponsors & grants as well as the Hannaford Clynk Program. Volunteers are needed to help administer the Clynk Program (returnable cans & bottles), find sponsors & grants, purchase and deliver food (from Hannaford) to the high school during the winter months. Free For All – A free yard sale where we collect clothing & household items and it is all offered for free to members of the community in need. Food Pantry – Volunteers needed first and second Fridays to unload trucks (usually morning hours), Monday and Tuesday mornings to pick up food from Hannaford, Tuesday nights from 5-6:30 to help pack boxes. Grace Place – This program, which support those with mild to moderate memory loss due to Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia, meets on Wednesdays from 10 am to 2 pm. Those involved help the leader (Suzanne Quirk) with various activities such as singing, games, exercise and meals. Walk Through Bethlehem – This year’s even will be held on December 10th.
