The purpose of Imagination Library is to promote reading between child and parent so all children will have the best opportunity to be developmentally ready to start school by age 5. “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” THE FACTS: The program, launched by Dolly Parton and the Dollywood Foundation, aims to foster a love of reading among preschool children. Each month a free hardcover book is shipped to registered chil- dren from birth to the age of five. The books are chosen by a Dollywood Foundation committee of individuals with backgrounds in education, child development, academia and early childhood literacy. The Resurrection Lutheran Church (Cairo, NY) handles the registrations and sponsorships and places the monthly book order. However, books from Imagination Library do not contain religious content.
